Yahoo! Messenger On PC

To send a message to your friend's mobile phone, click Start a Mobile Conversation in the Tools menu of the main Yahoo! Messenger window.

Before you can start sending messages, you need to add phone numbers for the friends you wish to contact.

Type the phone number for your friend in the Area Code and Phone Number field, then click Add to Mobile Friends. If the phone number is on a network that Yahoo! currently supports (see below), your friend will be added to your Mobile Friends list.

You can always view this list by selecting the Mobile Friends section in your Preferences.

Once you have added friends to your Mobile Friends list, you can send them messages in the Start a Mobile Conversation window.

Select your friend's phone number in the To: menu, then type your message in the text box below. Click Send when you are finished.

If your friend's phone is on and they reply to your message, it will appear directly in the message window.

Sending an SMS from the Yahoo! Messenger is free. But your friend who responds to the SMS sent by you will be charged the standard cost for an SMS.

When you receive a message on your phone, press the Read button to see it.

To reply to the message, press the Options button, then select Reply.

Compose your message, press OK and then Send to send your reply. Make sure you do not change the phone number to which the message will be sent.

If you receive a message on your phone from a user who you would like to ignore, reply to it with just the word "block" in your message.
